Julia Lair, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified PCIT Therapist

Listen to Julia Lair and Leah Clionsky talk about the power of praise done well on this episode of the Educated Parent Podcast!

Working with parents and children and helping them reconnect is truly one of the most meaningful parts of my work. One of my favorite moments in PCIT is when a parent suddenly begins to see their child differently, the child feels the relationship shift, and connection clicks into place. That moment feels almost magical to me every time, because it reminds families that the warmth and closeness they’re hoping for has often been there all along. I love getting to watch the dynamics of the home shift in a way that parents may have thought wasn’t within reach.

My approach is gentle, thoughtful, and relationship-focused. I am committed to teaching parents everything they need to feel confident and capable using PCIT. My goal is to help you rediscover the joy and ease in your relationship with your child, and to trust that with the right structure and guidance, meaningful change is absolutely possible.

PCIT Training and Experience

Julia Lair is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified PCIT Therapist. She is deeply committed to providing evidence-based care grounded in compassion, clarity, and respect for families.

After earning her degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Julia completed clinical training across a variety of settings, including schools, family-based systems, and international community development. This diverse background allows her to bring perspective, steadiness, and adaptability to her work with families navigating challenging behaviors and big emotional responses.

Julia also brings additional expertise in supporting families during the postpartum period and major family transitions, such as welcoming a new baby. She has completed specialized training through Postpartum Support International (PSI), which allows her to better understand how postpartum mood changes, sleep deprivation, and shifting family dynamics can impact both parents and young children.

This perspective is especially helpful for families seeking PCIT after the birth of a new sibling, when older children may show increased emotional or behavioral challenges and parents may feel stretched in new ways. Julia integrates this understanding into her PCIT work to help families navigate these transitions with more connection, clarity, and support.

Who Julia Works Best With

Julia enjoys working with:

  • Parents who want to strengthen connection and bring more ease back into their relationship with their child

  • Families navigating challenging behaviors in an older child after the birth of a new baby

  • Caregivers who appreciate a calm, gentle therapeutic presence paired with clear, evidence-based guidance

  • Parents who want to learn effective skills while preserving warmth, playfulness, and mutual respect

  • Parents who feel like they have tried it all and are frustrated by past results and are unsure what to try

She approaches PCIT as both a structured, skill-based treatment and a deeply relational process that helps families reconnect and thrive.
